Prior to joining the OPRF, he was the First Director General of The Cabinet Satellite Intelligence Center, Cabinet Office from April 2001 to Mar 2005 and also served as the First Director General of the Defense Intelligence Headquarters (DIH), Ministry of Defense.

Commander Crossman has had extensive experience in the geospatial sector for the NZ Navy culminating in his appointment as the Hydrographer of the Navy in April 2009. He also represented the NZDF on the IHO and Digital Geospatial Information Working Groups (DGIWG) Hydrographic Information and Harmonisation Working Group and managed the NZDF’s Multi National Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP).
Colonel Keith Geiger

Colonel Geiger has held various command and staff positions within US Army Military Intelligence, Special Operations, the Joint Community and NATO and brings his unique operational experience into this conference. Representing an agency that is deeply involved in disaster and post-crisis management in the region, Colonel Geiger will present how geospatial tools could be used specifically for disaster management.

NC3A Geo-Officer, Consultation, Command and Control Agency

John Teufert from NATO’s Consultation, Command and Control Agency will be presenting an operational case on NATO’s experience in Afghanistan and the role of geospatial tools in countering insurgency and urban warfare against the Taliban forces. The presentation will talk about a network-centric approach utilizing state-of-the-art GIS technology and open standards that apply to both the data exchange protocols and the data formats; touching upon the Recognised Environmental Picture (REP) architecture that was tested during the NATO Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) 2005 in Lillehammer.

With over 20 years experience within the Intelligence and Geospatial arenas, Richard Smith is currently responsible for information management, including the technical management of the Transport Security Spatial Information Infrastructure Project for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. Mr. Smith also serves as the Secretary to the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Geographic Information Board.

Major General (Dr) Siva Kumar from India will be highlighting the NSDI is an initiative by the Government of India to encapsulate various types and formats of geospatial data from a number of government and non-government organisations onto one platform for use by the citizens. The India NSDI Portal is one primary section of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The ultimate goal of the NSDI is to make geospatial information available to the ‘whole of government’ and the public for easier and faster access.
Major General Girish Kumar*

Major General Girish Kumar will present on the Delhi Spatial Data Infrastructure Project (DSSDI), a pilot project by the Department of Science and Technology. As a part of the project, a monitoring room was established to receive images from ten cameras placed at vantage points to do the change detection on real time as occurring on the ground. The idea is to use the 3D images for security and crowd control for the Commonwealth Games in 2010. The project will cover a total area of NCT Delhi of ~1500 Sq. km. The project comprises of two major components, Land Information System (LIS) of NCT of Delhi and Urban Spatial Information System (USIS). The LIS will have up to date cadastral information. The system developed will be chiefly used for disaster management, traffic management, security of important buildings and other valuable infrastructural assets in Delhi.
Major General Munawar Ahmad Solehria

Major General Munawar Ahmad Solehria was born in 1956 in Punjab, Pakistan. He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers in 1977. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College, Quetta, National Defence University, Islamabad, Military College of Engineering Risalpur, Pakistan, and US Army Engineer School Fort Belvoir, Virginia, USA. He was the International Student Honour Graduate from US Army Engineer School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Masters Degree in War Studies. The General Officer bears many decorations and awards including Hilal e Imtiaz (Military).
During his career, the General Officer has held various Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. He has served on key operational staff appointments in the ranks of Major, Lieutenant Colonel and Colonel. He has served as Director General Housing at Army Headquarters. He has also served as Deputy Engineer in Chief, Pakistan Army. He was appointed as Surveyor General of Pakistan in January 2009.
